Poinsettias were once thought to be deadly to cats and dogs. But, according to the ASPCA/Animal Poison Control Center, poinsettia ingestions typically produce only mild to moderate gastrointestinal tract irritation, which may include drooling, vomiting and/or diarrhea.
However, lilies of all types are highly toxic to cats. Never give them to cat-owning friends. For more information check out the ASPCA/Poison Control Center site.
